RSSA.R.Rahman Holds Two Grammy Nominations
A.R. Rahman gets two Grammy nominations: A.R Rehman, the Oscar winner, has been nominated for two important musical awards for the Film- Slum Dog. The track Jai Ho brought Rahman into the categories of nominations for the two awards, one for the best song written and another for the best compilation sound track album. The Grammy awards function will be organized on 31st January at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles Our Indian musician, 44 years old, A.R. Rehman has made a remarkable record of getting nominated for the ‘Grammys’ awards, which is known to be the Oscars of the music industry. The song ‘Jai Ho’ from the film Slum Dog, produced in 2008, was written by the famous poet, lyricist and writer ‘Gulzar’.
Gulzar- a talented lyricist: Gulzar is a talented writer, a lyricist, a great poet as well as a famous and a successful director. He was born on 18th August 1936 in Dina (British India). He relieved the audience from the violent trend of 1970-80s movies by directing and writing sensitive and lyrical successful films. He came to India (Delhi) after Independence as a poet but joined Bimal Roy Productions in 1961 as a lyricist for the film ‘Bandini’ in 1963. He gave so many big hits like Anand and Guddi in 1971, Bawarchi in 1972, Namak Haram in 1973, Do Dooni Chaar in 1968, Khamoshi in 1969 and Sfar in 1970. As a musician and lyricist Gulzar is unbeatable and always gives high quality of music in his films. His directional debut was Mere Apne in 1971. But, unfortunately 1980s and 90s proved to be the unluckiest period for his directional career. Gulzar stepped up towards Tv Productions also and made Mirza Ghalib in 1988.He has written screenplays also for ‘Masoom’ in 1983 and

He was born on 6th January 1967, in Chennai in a musically influenced mudliar family. His father was a composer, arranger and a conductor in Malayalam movies and working with Salil Chowdhary and Deva Rajan.He learnt the piano at the age of four only and received his early trainings in music from Dhanraj Master. He was awarded for the best jingle composer in 1991 and met Mani Ratnam and started working with him. So his first movie with Mani Ratanam under the production of Madras Talkies, was Roza released on 15 August 1992 and proved to be a big hit for his musical career. He is famous for his great quality that he introduced many new talented voices like: Suresh Hameed, Mahalaxmi, Hema Shivdesai, Minmini and so many others un- countable names.He even made his secretary Noell James to sing in Films.
