Pavanu, a village belle waits endlessly for her aunt’s son Chinnaswamy to return to the village, in order to marry him. Ironically, fearing his father’s punishment, Chinnaswamy had run away from his village at the age of seven. Pavanu and Chinnaswamy’s father are still hopeful that he would return one day. A youth from the Military comes to the village. After a few days he states that he is Chinnaswamy. The whole village is overjoyed and Pavanu decides to marry him, having waited for him for several years. But in the marriage hall the truth comes to light that Chinnaswamy has passed away, and his friend had actually come to give the news of Chinnaswamy’s death. Chinnaswamy’s father accepts him as his own son. Pavanu, however, refuses to see any logic or reason, and decides to lead the life of a widow. Is the impersonator able to make her change her mind or is he forced to leave the village? What happens to Pavanu’s life?
